TIB Making a Difference in Kids Lives
(Florida Keys) TIB Bank joined the Take Stock in Children (TSIC) mentoring program in 1999 and part of the Banks objective was and still is to heighten the awareness of the Monroe County Education Foundations TSIC mission and the goals of the TSIC mentor and scholarship programs.
TIB Bank Vice President and Commercial Loan Officer Amy Pierson began mentoring when TIB began participating in 1999 and is still mentoring, ten years later.
Vice President Vicki Walker and Vice President Mimi Young represented TIB at the TSIC 2009 Graduation Ceremony held at Marathon High School in Marathon on Saturday, May 30th where 42 graduates in the Class of 2009 from Key West High School, Marathon High School and Coral Shores High School received 4-year college scholarships through the TSIC program.
As a community partner that dedicates volunteer time and gives monetary donations throughout the year to school education and sport programs, TIB encourages its staff to become involved and to help make a difference the students they mentor. TSIC programs are established in every Florida County where they are managed by local educational, social service, and community and youth organizations. Mentors are key to the success of the program, providing motivation, guidance, friendship and support and they are encouraged to continue their service over a multi-year period.
